Greater Clementon Lions and Winslow Twp Lions have Combined Meeting 03/12/2009
Greater Clementon Lions Club and the Winslow Township Lions Club held a combined dinner meeting at Pufferbelly's Restaurant. It was a fun night sharing in the brotherhood of Lionism.
Zone Chairman Dave Byington was our guest speaker. Lion Dave spoke about our clubs not only getting new members, but the importance of making sure that our new members have something to do as soon as possible after they join. "Getting them involved right away will ensure that they do not become bored or frustated by being bystanders", said Lion Dave.
He continued by saying that he has seen examples of this with younger new members who quit Lions after only a few months. He also made a very good point when he asked all of us, "why is it that both of our Clubs sponsor Leo Clubs, but neither of our clubs has a single former Leo member in our clubs"? He also said, "You would think some of these Leos who became adults would have joined the Lions as a natural course. We have to make a concerted effort to reach out to our Leo members".
