Lions Roar for Seniors and Troops 12/14/2008
Winslow Township - December 14, 2008 -- Senior Citizens of Winslow Township were treated to a wonderful holiday turkey dinner donated and prepared by members of the Winslow Township Lions Club and they were cheerfully served their meals by Lions Club Members and their affiliated Winslow Township Leos Club, who are students of the Winslow Township School District. The seniors enjoyed a day of holiday spirit and everyone received gifts as well as a suprise visit from Santa Claus and his Elf at the Bud Duble Senior Center on Cooper Folly Road in Atco, New Jersey. More than 150 people were fed turkey with all of the fixings. Additionally, at this event, Vincent Borrelli of the Winslow Township Lions Club presented Command Sergeant Major Joseph Brennan of the New Jersey National Guard, a third installment of pre-paid phone cards which will be sent to local National Guard Troops deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan so that they will have the opportuntiy to call loved ones back here at home over the holidays. To date, the Winslow Township Lions Club has donated more than 100,000 phone minutes to the troops. Command Sergeant Major Joseph Brennan spoke of the important role the New Jersey National Guard plays overseas and here in New Jersey.

Lions members thank everyone who contributes to this important work. You are truly helping Lions make a difference in our community."
