Immediate Past International President Visits Camden Eye Center

On Saturday, November 8, 2008, Immediate Past International President and current Lions Club International Foundation Chairman Mahendra Amasuriya visited the main office and Mobile Vision Clinic of the Camden Eye Center.

Chairman Amisuriya, accompanied by his wife Kushlani, were greeted by several members of Lions District 16-C including District Governor Fred Niji, Cabinet Secretary Mary Niji, PID Chuck Weimer, PCC Arthur Orsi, PCC Dr. Lawrence Ragone, IPDG Marlene Martin, PDG Bob DeLambily, PDG Dick Indiveri, PDG MaryAnn Ragone, Camden Eye Center Board Chairman Stephen Ripa, Dr. Ranjoo Prasad, and Rev. Floyd White. At the Camden Eye Center, Chairman Amasuriya was treated to a first hand look of the operations of the Center including a tour of the patient care areas as well as a demonstration of the ophthalmic equipment, much of which was provided by LCIF grants during the past seven years.

After a brief tour of Camden, the Chairman and his wife came to the Woodland Ave. Presbyterian Church where the Camden Eye Center Mobile Vision Clinic was performing eye health and vision screenings for area children. The Chairman expressed great pride that the funds supplied to the Camden Eye Center from Lions Club International Foundation were making such a positive impact in this community.

At lunch, Chairman Amasuriya had a chance to address the Lions about LCIF's past, present, and future including the Sight First Campaigns and the over 9,000 grants the Foundation has awarded since 1968.
