Pennsylvania National Guard Deployment January 2009 11/08/2008
In January of 2009, 4,000 of our neighbors, friends and colleagues will be deployed into harm's way to protect our freedom in the War against Terrorism. Each one of these brave men and women will leave behind a job, friends and family all for the honor of serving the country that means so much to them.
Now it is time for us to serve them, to send them to war knowing that they will be missed and that they are loved. Every time a unit is deployed out of Pennsylvania or Southern New Jersey the Liberty USO is there to say good bye with warm food, a smile and open heart. With this deployment we are expecting to feed up to 4,000 men and women at the McGuire Air Force Base passenger air terminal. The actual deployments will take place over a period of several weeks. Some days we will send one mission out, others two or three in a day. Each mission will enjoy a meal served by volunteers and all for free to them. We are working with the Pennsylvania National Guard to determine the actual dates of these deployments. Due to security issues we do not have the actual dates and times until 72 hours prior to the departure.
We need your help! Consider sponsoring a mission or part of a mission. The average cost per person is $10.00 with the average number of soldiers per mission being 175 to 225 at a time. We are reaching out to organizations all across the state to sponsor a mission. For $1,500 we can supply the food, drinks and more to our men and women as the set forth for up to a full year. Your support is vital in allowing us to fulfill our mission.
In addition to the knowledge that you are saying thank you to these brave men and women, we would like to say thank you as well. Each sponsor will be recognized on special USO signage at the mission. Your organization will be recognized on out Honor Roll at McGuire Air Force Base and on our web site, libertyuso.org. If you would like and the schedule allows, members of your organization can help work the "chow" line and interact with the service members before the depart.
Rest assured that you are supporting a great cause with an organization that has been serving our men and women in uniform for over 67 years. The USO of Pennsylvania and Southern New Jersey ("Liberty USO") is a privately funded, non-profit organization. The mission of the USO worldwide is to enhance the quality of life of the U.S. Armed Forces (active duty, guard and reserve) and their families, and to create cooperative and supportive relationships with local civilian communities. Your local community USO serving the armed forces in PA and NJ since 1941 is Liberty USO.
